Stewart Memorial Community Hospital Supports Lake City Pool Project
Stewart Memorial Community Hospital in Lake City has made a pledge of $50,000 to the Lake City Pool Project. Leah Marxen, CEO, announced the gift on Friday, October 23, 2009. “Recreational opportunities are important within the community, not only for healthy living, but also for community vitality,” noted Marxen. She also commented on the role recreation opportunities play when hiring staff. “Amenities in the community substantially aid in the recruitment and retention of staff in our organization, including physicians.” With this gift from Stewart Memorial, financial support for the pool project has reached approximately $480,000 and is still in the early phases of the fundraising campaign. Pool Committee members say they appreciate the hospitals early leadership in the campaign.
