Pool project gets $60,000 boost!!
The Lake City pool project got a big boost through a $60,000 donation made by area native Douglas Troxel, now a resident of Hawaii.
“I remember when the pool was built when I was 11. I had gone to country school for the first five years (K-4) and then was bussed to Lincoln in Lake City. Until then, I rarely went ‘to town’ as farm work prevailed and Yetter was a lot closer. It was the first pool I ever swam in and was a lot of fun,” Troxel said.
After graduating from high school in Lake City, Troxel went to Iowa State University where he graduated in 1967 with a degree in Mathematics.
Troxel founded Serena Software in 1980, establishing an industry standard for software change management on mainframe computer systems. From 1980-97, Troxel served as president and chief executive officer of Serena. He currently serves as Serena’s chairman emeritus.
